The Wedding Toast That Wouldn't End

The best man had one job: a short, warm toast. He had also had two glasses of champagne on an empty stomach and a phone full of notes he'd "definitely organize later."

The toast opened strong. By minute three it had detoured into a full retelling of a college road trip that ended with a story involving a raccoon, a gas station, and a decision that "honestly, we don't need to get into tonight." The bride's grandmother checked her watch. Someone's toddler started crying, possibly in solidarity.

At minute six, the DJ made the merciful call to start fading in music. The best man, mistaking this for applause, raised his glass higher and kept going. It took the groom physically standing up to bring it to a close.

The couple, to their credit, are still happily married. The video, to everyone's dismay, still exists.
